Trails
The Stout Memorial Grove Loop Trail is generally accessible. Some steep slopes are located along the route, for about 0.5 mile through redwood forests. The service road access to the trailhead from the parking lot is approximately 500 feet of steep downhill slope. The service road could be a challenging route for some users. The trailhead, accessible restroom, and accessible parking are located at the east end of the Stout Memorial Grove parking lot.

The Simpson Reed Peterson Memorial Trails are a 0.93 mile accessible loop trail experience through old growth Redwoods. The surface is compacted aggregate. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with intermittent sections between 5% to 8%. Accessible parking and non-flush accessible restroom is located off Walker Road (not Highway 199).

The Nature River Trails is a 0.6 mile accessible trail through redwood forest with views of the Smith River from the day-use area to the campground. The surface is compacted aggregate. There is one armored crossing on the trail that water flows over during rain events that might be challenging for some users. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with intermittent sections between 5% to 12%. An accessible picnic area is located at the trailhead of the Nature Trail in the day-use area. Accessible parking and restrooms are located near both trailheads.

The Leiffer Trail is an ‘out-and-back’ accessible trail that is 0.88 miles each way through redwood forest. The surface is compacted aggregate for most of the trail. There are several armored crossings on the trail that water flows over the trail during rain events that might be challenging for some users. The decking on the bridges is rough and undulating to provide more traction in slippery conditions. Along the trail, a fallen redwood tree provides users with an opportunity to admire the root system also known as a root wad. Users with vision impairments may appreciate this tactile opportunity to explore the root system up close. Some root stubs may be overhanging or protruding into the trail; all users are encouraged to exercise caution around these natural phenomena. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with intermittent sections between 5% to 8% and one section for 6 feet at 10%. Accessible parking is provided in 2 locations at the trailheads off Walker Road (not Highway 199).
