On May 15, 2014 California State Parks officially took over operations and maintenance of Kings Beach State Recreation Area and the boat launch facility. The North Tahoe Public Utilities District (NTPUD) had operated the park since 1978.
Kings Beach State Recreation Area features 1700 feet of beautiful frontage property along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. This day-use only area is resplendent with Ponderosa Pine and is popular for summer water sports. With the park's elevation at about 6225 feet, visitors should be aware of how high altitude may affect them. Phone (530) 583-3074 for more information.
The picnic areas are generally accessible. Generally accessible parking and restrooms are available.
Pier: located between the main day-use area and the boat ramp, the pier is usable. Assistance may be needed navigating on pathways leading to the pier from the day-use area.
Boat Ramp: routes to the boat ramp are generally accessible. Assistance may be needed with slopes on the ramp/dock. Parking, restrooms and routes at the boat ramp are generally accessible.
