Richardson Grove State Park

Overview
Named after Friend W. Richardson, the 25th governor of California, Richardson Grove State Park is where you first encounter significant old growth redwood forest when coming north. It is seven miles south of Garberville on Highway 101. Phone (707) 247-3318 for more information.

Camping
The Huckleberry Campground has three accessible campsites (#14, #23, and #33). Accessible water stations serving these campsites are nearby. The combo restroom/shower building near campsite #14 has a toilet stall that is generally accessible. Shower may be usable. A van-accessible parking space is adjacent to the restroom/shower building.

Trails
The Grove Nature Trail is a 0.50 mile accessible trail that consists of several small trail loops that depart from the Visitor Center to the north and south. The trails meander through large, old growth redwood trees. The trail is an interpretive trail with numerous educational panels along the trail that interpret the natural history of the redwoods. The surface is compacted soil. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with intermittent sections between 5% to 8%. A unisex restroom behind the visitor center is generally accessible. Accessible parking spaces are located at the Visitor Center near the trailhead.

The Redwood Exhibit Trail is a 0.22 mile accessible trail that branches off of the Grove Nature Trail and goes under the highway for safe passage. The trail meanders through large, old growth redwood trees. The surface is compacted soil. There is one armored crossing on the trail that water flows over during rain events that might be challenging for some users. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with intermittent sections between 5% to 8%. A unisex restroom behind the visitor center is generally accessible. Accessible parking spaces are located at the Visitor Center near the trailhead.

Exhibits/Programs
The Visitor Center/Store may be usable. Assistance may be needed with ramp, thresholds, and doors. Some store aisles are narrow and reach to some items may require help from sales staff. Accessible parking is available at the Visitor Center.
