La Purisima Mission State Historic Park

Overview
Founded in 1787, and largely destroyed by an 1812 earthquake, the Mission was restored in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It is considered the most completely restored mission in California. The park is open from 9am-5pm daily, and guided tours are available daily starting at 1pm. The park is located at 2295 Purisima Road, Lompoc. Phone (805) 733-3713 for more information.

Further information to help you plan your visit, including virtual tours of the grounds, are available by visiting the webpage for the Prelado de los Tesoros de la Purisima (Keepers of the treasure of La Purisima).

Trails
The El Camino Real, La Rancheria, & Las Zanjas Roads are historic service roads that are used by park visitors for hiking. These roads combined provide a 2.73-mile loop, generally accessible, hiking experience through coastal hills, with occasional views of historical water conveyance systems. Some sections of the roads contain features that could be challenging for some users, including steep running slopes up to 12%, and minor ruts in the road surface. Trailhead, accessible parking, and accessible restrooms are located at the visitor center.

Exhibits/Programs
Historic Adobe Structures: The routes within the adobe structures often include narrow doors, steps up or down, and high thresholds at the entries that may require assistance. An earthen ramp to the north deck helps provide access to the monastery, but assistance may still be required at room entries.

Visitor Center and Exhibit Hall: The visitor center and exhibit hall are generally accessible. Parking, route, and restrooms are generally accessible.

Other Information
A balloon tired wheelchair may be available to assist visitors with navigating the terrain and steps found at this park. Call the park for more information.
