Overview
Torrey Pines State Reserve is the home of our nation's rarest pine tree - Pinus torreyana. A picturesque, pueblo-style structure that served as a restaurant when it was built in 1923 houses the visitor center, featuring interpretive displays. Picnicking, camping, and dogs are prohibited in the reserve. The park is located at 12600 N. Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla 920377. Phone (858) 755-2063 for more information.
Trails
The South Broken Hill Trail provides a 0.9 mile trail experience on a historical road, through coastal brush near the golf course and an overlook facing Broken Hill. Parking and restrooms in the West Parking Lot are generally accessible..
The West Parking Lot Overlook Trail provides a 0.14 mile trail experience along the coastal bluff with views of other bluffs and the ocean. Along the trail there are three overlooks that provide seating opportunities. Parking and restrooms in the West Parking Lot are generally accessible.
The Discovery Trail provides a 0.13 mile trail experience along the coastal bluff with views of coastal marshland. Along the trail there are three overlooks that provide seating opportunities. Parking and restrooms in the West Parking Lot are generally accessible.
The Parry Grove Trail provides a 0.08 mile trail experience along the coastal bluff adjacent to a native plant garden and views of the ocean. Along the trail there is an accessible drinking fountain and one overlook that provides a seating opportunity. Parking and restrooms in the West Parking Lot are generally accessible.
Exhibits/Programs
Visitor Center: A historic lodge serves as a visitor center. A usable accessible route leads around the side of the building to the north door. Some assistance may be required with slopes or entry thresholds. The exhibits are generally accessible. A video room is generally accessible, but some assistance may be needed at the narrow entry. One captioned video is available. A script is available upon request for the slide show. Parking and restrooms in the West Parking Lot are generally accessible. Two designated accessible parking spaces in the East Parking Lot (adjacent to the lodge) are available.
