Overview
Border Field State Park contains much of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, an important wildlife habitat. The park also commemorates the site of the international border established by the 1848 treaty between the U.S and Mexico. The main park road may be occasionally closed to vehicles due to service reductions or flooding. People who use wheelchairs may access portions of the park via the main road and an adjacent accessible path. Picnic Area
The main picnic area and restroom are accessible. This location provides a beautiful overlook of the ocean and Tijuana Estuary.

Trails
The North McCoy Trail is an accessible trail that is 0.66 miles that incorporates interpretive signage on a trail through a marsh setting. The surface is compacted soil. Some segments of the trail may be more challenging for some users. There is two armored crossing on the trail that water flows over during rain events that might be challenging for some users. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with one section for 82 feet at 8%. Trailhead, restroom and designated accessible parking are available near the park office on Caspian Drive in Imperial Beach.

The South McCoy Trail is an ‘out-and-back’ accessible trail that is a 1.06 mile each way back country trail through a marsh setting. The surface is compacted soil. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes. Trailhead is at the center of 5th Street and Iris Avenue, Imperial Beach. Parking is available at the end of Iris Avenue.

Exhibits/Programs
Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center: The exhibits are generally accessible, but assistance may be needed to operate some of the interactive exhibits. Park staff is available to help. The restroom permits front and side transfers and is generally accessible. There are three accessible parking spaces located at the visitor center.
