Malibu Lagoon State Beach

Malibu Lagoon, where Malibu Creek meets the Pacific Ocean, includes pleasant hiking areas with ample bird watching opportunities and tours of the Adamson House. Guided tours of the wetlands and other natural elements such as grunion, the monarch butterfly, tidepools, and the gray whale are scheduled seasonally. Phone (310) 457-8143 or (310) 456-8432 for more information.

The Malibu Lagoon Trail is a popular ‘out-and-back’ accessible trail that is 0.46 miles each way that skirts the perimeter of the newly restored Malibu Lagoon, terminating at the state beach. The trail offers multiple locations for wildlife viewing, an accessible picnic area, and many interpretive panels that highlight the natural and cultural resources of the area. The surface is compacted soil and is usable year-round. The trail is generally flat at less than 5% slopes with one section for 101 feet at 6%. Accessible parking is available at the trailhead.
